We'd just come from another ryokan up the street, Konachi noyu sasaya, where the staff were rude and unwelcoming, basically sending us out into the snow because it was for guests only. Here, the owner kindly welcomed us, made us food and hot tea, and let us use the onsen for the day. The place is clean and pleasant, she's very warm-hearted, the food is delicious, and the onsen is lovely too. We were so glad to be welcomed here.
The onsen was one of the best I've tried: a perfect temperature, cloudy alkaline water, and a rotemburo ringed by snowy mountains. Dinner and breakfast are served in a common room, with freshwater fish and mountain vegetables. The rooms are lovely in this old-style ryokan, though they can be chilly in winter; the kotatsu and noisy heater help. I'd definitely return.
This was our first ryokan stay, and we loved it. The room was beautiful, with a view of nature, and the staff were exceptionally friendly. The local food was superb. The ryokan sits in a small valley in the Japanese Alps at Shirahone Onsen. Its calcium-rich spring water is famous and is said to have healing powers. There’s a rural-style outdoor rotemburo shared by men and women, as well as a private indoor bath. It cost around 12,000¥ per person per night.
The staff were very attentive to guests, almost overwhelmingly so 😊. The outdoor and indoor onsens were both lovely. Amazing experience. I hope they treat the lovely dog well.
We had a very relaxing, happy stay and were completely satisfied. The place and onsen were nice, the room was clean, and both dinner and breakfast were so delicious. The service-minded staff made the dog very welcome, too. So cute! (^^)
