I booked a room-only stay for 7,000 yen on Friday, September 27, 2024, before climbing Mt. Norikura the next day. Room 203 had good TV reception, a toilet and sink, and the whole building was very clean and comfortable, though its age shows. It was fine for somewhere to sleep, and apparently they only offer room-only plans. The bath is a milky-white hot spring at a comfortable temperature. At night the shower took a long time to warm up, though in the morning hot water came right away. The minerals seemed to sting my eyes all night. They drove me to Tatamidaira at 6:00 AM for 2,000 yen, 50 yen less than the shuttle bus. I heard they were scrapping the car. The owner drove carefully, and having the car to myself was very comfortable. We chatted about little things, and soon we were at Tatamidaira. The owner is apparently good at surfing and snowboarding. I took the shuttle bus back, which was bumpy and winding, and came back exhausted. It made me notice how careful the owner's driving had been. Thanks for everything, and I hope to see you again if I get the chance.

The manager is a thoughtful, kind young man, and usually happy to help if you ask. For breakfast we borrowed a toaster and gas stove, and that extra help made the self-service setup feel like more than just self-service. I had a lovely, relaxing stay, saw beautiful stars, and the sulfur hot spring was amazing. Highly recommend it if you like sulfur springs! I visited in early July. They seem to be offering room-only stays at the moment, but are planning barbecue plans and other options. Looking forward to coming back. Thank you!

The building's a little old, but everything was clean and comfortable. Service is simple, with a small staff, though the snacks and free drinks in the lobby were a nice touch. We stayed with our two elementary school-aged kids for a summer hike in Norikura. The hot spring water was superb. I'd read comments that it was lukewarm, but the source water apparently isn't very hot to begin with, and the bath didn't feel lukewarm to us. We could relax and enjoy it.

After just two nights here, I found myself wishing we could come back for a whole week to relax in the hot springs. The building is old, but our room was clean. We got some exercise walking around the area, and the Three Waterfalls were impressive, even though we heard the water level is usually higher. We also went to Shirahone Onsen for a day trip, but my husband and I found the water too cool.
