I had a great one-night stay. The prices were reasonable, the food was good, and the setting was beautiful, especially with the cherry blossoms. Waking up by the river lined with cherry trees felt like paradise.

A good place for families with children 💞
I visited in October 2024 for one last stay after receiving a postcard saying the current staff would stop operating the lodge in February 2025. That was a real shame. I've stayed here several times over the past 15 years and always looked forward to the website updates. The area has many appealing mountains, including the Kahada Eleven, and I'd long planned to use Sanrinsha as my base for climbing them. After 35 years, the lodge is stepping down because of financial and physical challenges, and there's no plan yet for what comes next. Even if a new organization bids to take over from Matsusaka City, it may be hard to keep offering such good service at reasonable prices. The setting is blessed with beautiful nature, though, and I hope the lodge can continue in some form.
I stayed here on a solo bicycle trip and found the hospitality incredible, with the staff going out of their way to accommodate guests. I imagine the place may have started as one of the many public lodgings built around the bubble economy to revitalize local areas. The all-you-can-eat amago meal costs 9,900 yen, which is quite a lot, but I have to give them credit for it. For the price, the stay was extremely good value. There was even a washing machine, great for cyclists, and the local sake was delicious. I have no complaints. I've cycled all over and haven't found many places that leave me this satisfied at this price. I assume the designated manager system regularly invites applications from operators. I think the Matsusaka City department responsible for choosing them should stay here at least once.
The setting was lovely and peaceful, with a river in front of the inn and beautiful autumn leaves in the fall. I stayed while walking along Route 166, and the spacious Japanese-style room was a comfortable place to unwind on my own. The meals were generous and delicious. They brought rice in a small wooden container, more than I could finish by myself, and I especially enjoyed the seasoned rice at dinner. Dinner and breakfast were both satisfying. The bath was roomy, with pieces of cypress in cloth bags floating in the water, giving off a subtle, relaxing scent. After I booked online, I couldn't use the nationwide travel support program. Later, a staff member kindly called to tell me I could use it, so I was able to stay at the discounted rate. I appreciated that thoughtful service.
