Yoki Matsushima

The dinner was beautifully prepared, and both the food and service were extraordinary. The view is spectacular, and the fishing village has a quaint feel. From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredible. This was my first Japanese onsen experience, and they clearly explained the etiquette. I’d highly recommend the place.

The dinner was amazing, with every dish prepared perfectly and its own distinct character. We filled the in-room bath, which was a huge ceramic bowl like one for miso soup, at 4 am so we could watch the sunrise from our room. We didn’t want to leave. The hotel is away from the touristy part of Matsushima, and walking up to it felt like time was slowing down. On arrival, they greeted us with a drink and let us choose a yukata for our stay. It was on the expensive side for our budget, but I had a great time.

The in-room onsen was amazing, and dining here was first class with excellent service. The facilities were very clean and easy to access, and the staff were friendly. There was a hot water pot in the room, along with coffee, tea, cups, a bottle opener, and a small fridge. They also provided very nice green tea. A great onsen stay.

The bath area and lobby are very clean, and the lobby has a nice feel to it. The hot spring water is clear, odorless, and slippery, with simple hypotonic alkaline properties. Unfortunately, it isn’t 100% natural.
