Hotel Hakuryuko Resort

The resort’s design and renovation at Hakuryuko may be dated, but the people running it more than make up for that. It’s remote, which means you can enjoy the quiet of nature, and we had a fantastic view from our room windows. Even after four nights, the place still felt fresh. It really became the center of our time in Hiroshima. A highlight was the space observatory. How many hotels or resorts have one, run by a full-time staff member who studied astronomy? His English was limited, but he impressed us with how patient and tireless he was. Even on a late autumn night when it was 2°C, the experience felt meaningful and heartwarming. We could feel his sincerity and enthusiasm.

We had a great stay, and the staff did their best to look after us. Thanks so much to them. My son got to play with fireworks for the very first time here!

The resort is beside a beautiful lake, and it’s so peaceful there. The service was great, with staff who were incredibly helpful.

I came for the Cradle of Stars planetarium, just like Hiroyuki's. The 40th anniversary deal included a light dinner and breakfast, so it was a great bargain. I live close enough that staying overnight wasn’t necessary, but I still got to relax and enjoy myself. Since it was the last day of the long weekend, we could use the baths and gym. I arrived in the evening, ran at the gym, played with the balance ball, had a bath and dinner, then went to the planetarium. The planetarium was deeply relaxing. The sofas were comfy, there were blankets, and I was falling asleep in no time. Lake Hakuryu was beautiful too, which really got me excited. When I booked the gym in the morning, they also checked my body fat and muscle mass, which was fun. The staff member in charge was cheerful. Thanks for a wonderful vacation! I do wish the morning checkout had been later so I could take my time, and a basket to carry things to the bath would have been handy. The room doors aren’t like ordinary hotel doors, and the sound of neighboring guests pushing theirs shut can be loud. A warning sign on the door would have been nice.
