The food was delicious, and the staff were kind and accommodating. They even offered us two complimentary drinks because of the room problem, which we appreciated. I hope they improve things for future guests. When we first entered the room, we noticed tiny dirt specks on the bed and several stink bugs. We told the staff right away, and they responded courteously, changing the soiled sheets and comforter and quickly removing the bugs we found. Their prompt response was appreciated. But we're extremely sensitive to insects, and that night we were very anxious when several stink bugs flew around the room. We worried one might come near the bed and get crushed while we were asleep. We'd heard that crushed bugs give off a strong odor, and that their body fluids can irritate or inflame skin, which added to our concern. We understand insects come with a mountain location, but given the price, we would have felt more comfortable if the room had been checked more thoroughly during cleaning and extra precautions taken beforehand.

The detached room made for a really relaxing, restorative stay. The spring water was lukewarm, so I could soak for a long time and still feel warm and cozy afterward. Dinner was delicious and filling, with plenty of meat and vegetables. I didn't take photos, but every dish looked appealing and was satisfying. They served only a little rice, but the homemade sansho pepper seasoning was delicious, and the pickles they made themselves were exceptional.

The baths seemed set at different temperatures, with the indoor one at 42°C and the open-air bath around 36°C, which felt a little cool. For supplies, there's a Lawson beside Le Vin Père, but it's too far to walk from this inn as a casual outing, and it closes at night. Given how rural the area is, I suppose a non-24-hour convenience store is understandable. Getting here by local bus is difficult because there aren't many services. The male front-desk staff member explained things carefully, but the conversation went on far too long. I couldn't tell whether this happens every day or if it was just a one-off. Dinner at 6 and breakfast at 8 were imposed with no choice for guests. Even people on the all-you-can-drink plan were asked about their first drink during check-in, which seems questionable, though I suppose it makes things easier for staff. I don't know whether late arrivals get any flexibility, but this time we went along with the schedule. An old Hilton Hotel commercial came to mind. It gave me the impression that the kitchen and serving staff were expected to finish cooking, serving, and clearing away in roughly three to four hours each morning and evening. Perhaps that's part of work-style reform.

*Updated January 2026 The listing's information about private baths has since been removed. I booked through an accommodation site and stayed here. The facility replied to positive reviews but not to negative ones. It feels like they're just covering up the bad parts. The food was tasty and vegetable-focused, but it lacked flavor. Service wasn't absent, exactly, but I found the experience unsatisfying. The staff seemed stretched thin. The inn promotes low rates, yet at around 60,000 yen I thought they were a bit low. Extra towels and other amenities cost more, which made the place feel like a large public bath. At the front desk they sell dishes, body soap, and hats for the sauna, and you don't know who has used them. I also wish the limited coffee service at reception lasted longer. If you're here just for the charm of a traditional inn dating back to the Edo period, it may be fine. But considering the hot springs and meals, I wondered if choosing this place was a mistake. There were no private baths, despite what I had understood from the description. They'd been replaced by a sauna that you have to pay to use. I don't know whether the inn or the agency was at fault, but I felt the description should have been changed immediately. It felt like a scam. The water was far too lukewarm. They seem to use their own 36-degree spring, and the open-air bath was unbelievable. The pamphlet said it would feel comfortable after warming up in the indoor bath, but that wasn't true for us. My companion and other women said the outdoor water was so cold they couldn't use it. It was early November, and I wondered how it would be in the middle of winter. I had to use the in-room bath, where the spring water was lukewarm too, and the home-style reheating system was a huge letdown. The detached building gave us privacy, but it was cold. The yukata I rented at reception was so thin it was almost pointless. Air conditioning was necessary, but it made the room dry, and the humidifier-air purifier didn't help much in such a large space. The detached rooms have their appeal, but also these drawbacks. The taps advertised natural water, but the refrigerator was empty. I thought they could at least provide one bottle of water.
