We had an amazing weekend with friends and got a warm welcome. The old building is set out in the beautiful mountains of Gunma, far from much else, but the rooms are spacious and really comfortable. What I liked most was the choice of private onsens, with so many different ones to try. You’ll need a car to get there, and it’s much easier to eat at the inn since there aren’t any nearby restaurants.

The service was top notch, and the room was roomy and comfortable. The meals were mediocre. The hot springs and amenities are great, but the hotel is very far from civilization, with no other sites nearby. This is a place to relax with your partner and enjoy the hot springs, without much else to do.

The staff were friendly, and we enjoyed the traditional breakfast and dinner each day. Our room was spacious and warm, in a traditional style, with a small TV and tokatsu. We used the private bath on the balcony many times, which was a great feature. We also tried several of the assorted onsen. Some felt quite similar, but it was still nice to try them. The peaceful snowy mountains around you make it a lovely spot to soak in a steaming private bath.

I still remember the view from the hot springs, with the river surrounded by heaps of snow. Each of the onsens was unique, and the water was hot. We received two souvenirs for completing 18 onsen, and the trip was one of my most memorable. The Ryuudo hotel was tranquil, and our room was spacious and duplex. The staff were so kind. I left my makeup in the room, and one staff member drove all the way from the hotel to the bus stop to return my makeup kit. I’ve never experienced such kindness anywhere in the world. Japanese people are so kind and gentle. I had a wonderful time and would recommend visiting to my friends and family. Thank you for your generosity. May God bless the kind-hearted Japanese man who brought back my makeup kit. Shilpa and Paul

Getting there takes some effort since the hotel is surrounded by mountains. You can rent a car at Jomokogen Shinkansen station, about 30 minutes away. The staff are friendly, and the meals were amazing. We had a lovely Japanese-style full-course dinner. There are 18 private bathrooms to choose from, and each room has its own distinctive open-air bath. A great hot spring hotel in the Minakami area.
