The Japanese breakfast the next morning was fantastic, with so many small dishes that it was hard to fit them all into one phone photo. The portions were all manageable, which impressed me. After dinner I warmed my shoulders and lower back in the jetted bath, then slept deeply. The sorbet stood out among the sweets, too. Dinner was delicious from start to finish. I especially liked the fruit worked into some dishes and the sauces. The fish and meat were both cooked just right. I’d expected to choose one main, but both were served, perhaps because of the course I booked. I chose the local wine, though Yoshiki wine was available, and I heard the chef is from the area. I did miss having bread to mop up the sauce. At Suehiro, I actually wanted to ask for some, but they didn’t offer even one piece. The landlady is cheerful and a good talker, and she had me smiling along with her. The chef appeared at the end of the meal, also smiling. It made sense that he was behind such lovely food. The inn takes only one or two groups a day, so it feels very secluded. You can eat, drink, and relax here, and I can see why its Google ratings are so high. The chef and landlady run the place themselves, so if you arrive before check-in, I’d suggest walking around the nearby lighthouse, shrine, and coast.

The dinner was Michelin-starred, and the abalone caught by the owner-chef himself was outstanding. As a single dish, it would be among the top three restaurant dishes I’ve had in my life. The menu also had the words “Thank you for your hard work,” which touched me. Maybe I’ve just been especially busy with work lately, but that felt like the kind of thoughtful service you’d get at a famous restaurant. We had a relaxing, enjoyable stay. The landlady greeted us with great courtesy, and we had lots of pleasant conversations. The room was elegant and exceptionally clean. My wife was delighted with her choice of cosmetics, and apparently the landlady is a hairdresser as well, which didn’t surprise me. The lighthouse was nearby, and the sunset was beautiful. There were too many clouds that night to see the stars, unfortunately, but I’d definitely return.

The bed felt a little too soft for me, but everything else was just right. The meals really did engage all five senses, with a range of flavors and lovely aromas. I was also grateful that they listened so attentively to my talkative mother. I’d definitely like to stay again.

We had the whole inn to ourselves as a group of four, since it takes only two groups a day and has room for four guests in total. The room was a little small, but tidy and clean, so we could relax comfortably. The breakfast was the best I’ve had at a hotel, with a wonderful range of flavors. We chose the inn for its food, and it lived up to what we hoped for. The sashimi was very fresh, vegetables were plentiful, and the dressings had a gentle taste that seemed carefully prepared. The dishes and presentation were lovely, and they changed the cutlery with each course, so we could use chopsticks, forks, or spoons as we liked. Courses arrived at a good pace, and the proprietress explained them at a comfortable volume, which made the meal feel relaxed. The red shiso juice served when we arrived was refreshing and delicious. The inn is near Nojimazaki Lighthouse, at the southernmost point of the Boso Peninsula. You can see the sea and harbor from the guest rooms and bathrooms. We visited on a trip around the peninsula, and the setting made for a very relaxing stay. It’s a good fit for anyone hoping to enjoy good food and unwind while looking out over the water.

It’s easy for me to get here from Yokohama using the Aqua-Line and Tateyama Expressway, so I can just drop by. This was my second visit, after coming in September, and the cheerful wife greeted me with a warm “Welcome back,” which immediately made me feel at ease. The full-course dinner was exciting and varied again. It was so tasty I didn’t want it to end, and I felt a little sad when dessert came around (lol). I found out the next morning that a bus from Yokohama stops very close to the hotel. I might take that next time and enjoy sparkling wine with breakfast 😊
