Solana Shirahama

We stayed at Moana for two nights from December 4th, 2013, with four adults and our medium-sized dog. Being by the coast, we were concerned about the cold, but the heated floors kept us comfortable for all three days. The room was clean and comfortable, and all the amenities were there, so we only needed clothes and groceries. The location by the sea was great, and our early morning walk to the lighthouse was pleasant. It was warm enough that Tokyo felt cold when we got home. We’re still deciding which Solana to try next. One thing we found unnecessary was the indoor hammocks. We kept bumping our heads on them even when they were folded up. Other Solana hotels seem to have them too.

The dog run was enormous, and my dog was amazed to have all that space to himself. We also really enjoyed the evening barbecue, especially the foot warmers they provided. The location in Shirahama was fantastic, and the staff were so friendly and warm that I’d love to return. It was my first stay at Solana, and the room was spotless. The amenities and kitchenware were carefully maintained, which made a good impression before I’d even used them. At first, the air felt stuffy and there was a pet smell, so we opened the windows and the odor cleared quickly. I know some pet smell is unavoidable, but leaving windows open or running the air conditioner to circulate the air could help for arriving guests. It seems like a relatively new place, and I hope the cleanliness and attention to detail continue. We wanted to come back in summer but it was fully booked, so we booked another Solana location instead. It’s become a family favorite, and we made wonderful memories. Thank you!

This was our first family trip with our dog, and we’d definitely like to come back. The room was right by the ocean, so we could hear the waves at night. Our dog seemed to love running freely in the spacious private dog run, and the dog amenities were excellent and reassuring. Everything was clean and comfortable.

We stayed Wednesday and Thursday, November 5th and 6th, and had no particular problems. The sea breeze was strong at night and made some noise, but we still slept without the trailer creaking. Next time I’d like to come with a friend. The spacious dog run was what pleased me most. My 1.5-year-old boxer had plenty of room to run around. As the owner of a large dog, I’d be happy to see the run made even larger. One small request: could you provide several pet sheets sized for large dogs? It would also be more useful to have one large-dog plate instead of separate small and medium ones.
