Kuretake Inn Yaizu-ekimae

I had a good time.

The loungewear was the part I struggled with. It’s like a long shirt and kept riding up while I slept, so it was no use. I’d forgotten that I used to bring pajamas. I’ve stayed at several Kuretake hotels, and the separate brown pajamas at the Osaka Midosuji one were comfortable. Kuretake Yaizu, please think about changing the sleepwear. I came back for the first time in 10 years. The place is small, but the blue tiles are lovely, and I picked it because it has a small bath, with four washing spots and a tub that fits about four people. I’d forgotten this too, but from the sixth floor you can see Suruga Bay in the distance. There’s happy hour, complimentary curry, and one free ice cream bar after a bath. I booked through Rakuten Travel for 9,100 yen on the first day of a three-day weekend, around 2,000 yen more than other nearby hotels. I chose this place for the large hot spring bath, fancy-sounding breakfast, welcome beer, and curry. But when I arrived, the dining room was full of kids on some kind of sports camp, the curry had run out, and there were no seats. It didn't feel like a welcome beer at all. The listing said it was a 30-second walk from the station, but the dining area was across the tracks and there weren't any restaurants nearby. The hot spring also required a separate 150 yen bathing tax. The big bath was so crowded it only had room for four people, and the water itself was nothing special. Breakfast was quite unlike the package photo, and didn't include anything that felt representative of Yaizu as a fishing town. It definitely wasn't worth the price. There were other choices, and I felt I'd picked the wrong one.

I booked a smoking twin room and it was so cheap. The room was small, but I was happy with everything else. There was a small hot spring bath, manga, an amenity bar, ice cream for after bathing, and a good range of breakfast options. The service was so good I started wondering if the price could really be right 🥺. The front desk staff were friendly too. I think it's a great hotel and would definitely stay again when I'm in Yaizu.
