Yaizu Grand Hotel

The hotel is a little off the usual tourist route, and you'll need a short shuttle or taxi ride from the local station. Yaizu Station is closest, three local train stops from Shizuoka Station, the nearest Shinkansen stop. We keep coming back because the place has an elegant feel without being stuffy, and they've continued to make improvements and renovations. The baths include two ocean-view rooms with outdoor hot spring baths overlooking Mt Fuji, plus a forest-view bath. They switch between men's and women's use on a set schedule, clearly marked at the entrance. Tattoos aren't allowed, so you'll need to cover one with an adhesive bandage to enter. The food is very good, especially the sushi, sashimi, and local seafood, with other dishes available too. It's also welcoming to kids, with a play area, garden, books, games, and ping pong. There's an outdoor pool, though it's closed when we visit in winter. Activities are often offered, so check in before it gets too late. The location is great for fresh seafood and views.

The buffet was delicious, and the staff were really cooperative. The hotel is away from the city, but better in every respect. It sits on the North Pacific Ocean shore, with a mesmerizing view, and the mountains and greenery all around make it peaceful. A lovely choice if you're looking to be close to nature. Highly recommended!

The Japanese dinner course downstairs is a real treat. The room had an unbelievable view, breakfast buffet was more than enough, and the staff were very friendly. They hold events throughout the year, and the hot springs are nice too.

Families with little kids will appreciate the playroom and adventurous garden. The food variety and quality at the buffet were the best, and the service was excellent. The views of Mt. Fuji, Suruga bay, and the sunrise make the location the best. Obviously the No.1 hotel in central Shizuoka area.
