Dinner came in a private dining room and featured traditional Japanese dishes. The staff were friendly, and I thought it was good value. The room was roomy, though the building felt a little dated. Its setting was the real draw, with fantastic ocean and Mt. Fuji views.

Getting there was fairly straightforward: take the Tokaido shinkansen to Shizuoka, then a short local train to Yaizu. Our Japanese-style room was spacious, with views of both the ocean and Mt. Fuji. I especially enjoyed the bluefin tuna kaiseki dinner. The outdoor bath had lovely views too, with Mt. Fuji and sunrise over Izu peninsula on clear mornings, and Shizuoka's city lights in the evening.

I found this hotel through a travel blog and tried it on a visit to Shizuoka. The public bath was excellent, breakfast was good, and the service was excellent too, as is typical in Japan. Our room was neat and clean, with an amazing ocean view and a clear view of Mt Fuji. Since we were there in winter, I was glad the heater worked well.
