Hotel Himakaso

The staff are nice, though the place is a little old.

From my second-floor room in the three-storey building, I had a nice ocean view and woke up feeling great. The bathroom itself was less impressive: it had just one tub, a little larger than average, and trees got in the way of the view. It was a Wednesday, so there were only two guests, including me. Wi-Fi was available, and a Daily Yamazaki nearby, open 9:00-21:00, was handy for picking up snacks for a light after-party in my room, lol. Breakfast was pretty standard, with unlimited rice refills. There may not have been much rice, but most people would probably be fine without seconds. I wanted another serving just because I could, lol. Everyone was very nice, and I’d like to return if it’s inexpensive next time. The inn sits above the coast, so walking there means climbing a fairly steep slope from the shore. Keep that in mind. If it’s a concern, you can request a pickup by adding a note when booking or calling directly. Most accommodations should be able to do it, and they use an eight-seater car. I didn’t ask for a ride because I wanted to explore all of Himakajima Island on foot, lol.

I was on a group tour with a large group of friends from when I lived in Nagano. The food was delicious, and all the employees were very nice. When a part-time worker named Hayashi brought the miso soup, he kindly warned me it was hot. I’d like to go again. I stayed one night, from December 8th to 9th. The bath is on the first floor and isn’t available between 11pm and 6am.

I had a great solo trip here. The room had a beautiful view, and the public bath was clean, though quite small.
