Ikeuo no Mifune

The facility is a little old, but everything was usable without a problem. You can see the sea from the open-air bath, and the seafood course lets you enjoy delicious local ingredients.

Really nice place!

The best parts were the spacious, very clean room and the bathroom, dining area, and large public bath. The big windows gave us a spectacular ocean view, and the male and female staff were kind and polite. The shoe lockers and changing room had locks, and there was a hair dryer, which felt reassuring. The chawanmushi and breakfast rice were delicious, too. The room on the seventh floor was spacious and Western-style, though it felt a little lonely. A comfortable sofa would have helped, especially with all that space. The sea bream sashimi at dinner was a letdown, and the presentation was disappointing. You can see it in the photos. Also, the hallway by the vending machines on the way to the large public bath smelled unbearably bad.

Even though I booked on the same day after a sudden change in my work plans, the staff were accommodating and the facilities made for a very satisfying stay. I chose a room-only plan. The place sits on a scenic cape by the coast, with a quiet feel, and is convenient for both work and sightseeing. The parking area is spacious, and the front desk let me use it before the 3 p.m. check-in. There’s also a lobby bus stop in front, which gives you another way to get around the port area. I had a mountain-side room, so the view was less striking than the ocean-side rooms, but it was clean and had what I needed for a business stay without meals. The spa was a highlight. The open-air bath felt wonderfully open, and the stone sauna, covered in rounded stones, warmed me right through. I noticed relief in my stiff shoulders and lower back, so it seems well suited to a stay focused on unwinding. There were banquets for groups at the inn during my visit, which gave the impression that it’s popular for company trips and group travel. I left feeling both physically and mentally refreshed. I’d consider coming back for business or a leisure trip.
