The meal was even better than we expected, and my wife and I were both very happy with it. The Shinojima octopus stood out, as tasty as the branded octopus from nearby Himakajima. The steamed Shinojima oysters in ceramic pots and sashimi platter were delicious too. We also loved the sunset, and Minshuku Taeko looked after us so well. The rooms and baths were very clean and didn’t feel old at all. It was our first visit to Shinojima, and the charming fishing-town streets made a strong impression. I was surprised by how many fishing boats there were, given that whitebait fishing is number one in Japan. We’d like to come back in a different season, so we’ll definitely return.
