Hotel Mito Silver Inn

A cozy, very affordable business hotel, about a three-minute walk from Mito Station.

I arrived on time for my single-room booking on October 9, 2025. A man at the front desk was on the phone, so I waited quietly and filled in the guest list he handed me. Once he finished, he gave me a key and explained checkout time and where to leave it. There was already someone else's suitcase, bag, and occupied bed in the room I opened. It looked like the guest was staying several nights, so I hurried back to call the front desk. The man brought another key right away, but by then I was very uneasy. He said he'd given me the room listed on my reservation, even though it was plainly occupied. I was in town for a concert tour and needed to leave soon, and I worried they might give my key to the wrong person again. The next room they showed me smelled faintly of mold, which made me more anxious. I called to say I didn't trust how the hotel was being managed and asked to cancel and get a refund. They said they'd refund me if they could give the room to someone else, provided the bed and bath hadn't been used. I hadn't even unpacked and was sitting in a chair, so naturally they could refund it. I was somewhere unfamiliar and my preferred accommodation was no longer an option, so I asked them to arrange another hotel and pay for it. They seemed very annoyed. If they'd handed me the correct key in the first place, I could have stayed, and I don't understand why they acted as if I was at fault. I asked to speak with the manager or someone in charge, but was told nobody was available that day. After about 20 minutes, a male staff member said they'd booked a nearby hotel, about a 15-minute walk away, and offered to show me there. It was in the opposite direction from the station, but it was the only place available, so we went and paid for the hotel. This isn't a major hotel and they may be short-staffed, but giving a guest's room key to the wrong person is unacceptable for personal information and security. I don't know whether they apologized to the other guest who got the wrong key and found me in the room. For anyone planning to stay here, I'd recommend not leaving your key at the front desk.

The rate is cheap, but the parking lot is a long way from the hotel. In winter, the toilet seat is so cold you have to work up the nerve to sit down. The faucet has plenty of water, but switching to the shower makes the flow very weak and the temperature drops, so you end up getting colder instead of warming up.

I was here for work, and the location worked really well, around a five-minute walk from Mito Station. The room and facilities were about what you'd expect for the price. Parking costs 500 yen a day at the nearby Sannomaru Parking Lot. You can park at any time, but there's an extra charge if you don't leave by 10 a.m.
