I only went for the onsen and didn’t stay overnight. The outdoor bath looks out over the village, fields, and river, which is a great view. There are also three large indoor baths, a hot-water massage area, and a sauna with a cold bath. The atmosphere was really nice.

I liked this inn quite a bit, even with a few limits around the hot springs. The food was delicious, and the chef even came to greet me after breakfast. The staff were few in number but gave excellent service, so my overnight stay was very pleasant. The building is old, though it’s kept very clean and in good condition. I stayed one night through the nationwide travel support program. This isn’t a large hot spring resort, and it seems geared more toward day visitors, with only six or seven guest rooms. Day visitors can use the baths until 9 PM, while overnight guests get an hour, until 10 PM. There’s also a private hot spring in the room that you can use freely, but that too is only available until 10 PM. The water comes out at a low temperature, around 31°C, and has to be heated, which explains the time limit. There’s no morning bath either, so it may not suit someone whose main reason for visiting is the hot springs. It’s a small place, so expectations should be modest, but I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable night away.

The open-air bath is on the small side, but the view across the Susa mountains and fields is lovely. The indoor bath has three levels and plenty of room to relax, and there’s a sauna as well. One thing to watch out for: the indoor bath floor gets quite slippery, especially if it’s your first visit. I came back to Yukarikan after a break since last spring, and it was a quiet Saturday with few other customers. It was good to finally take a leisurely soak again. The facilities, food, hot springs, and service are all high quality. It’s a spacious inn with a dining area, and day visitors can use the baths too. The baths open at 11:00, the dining area at 11:30, and the place is closed Wednesdays and Thursdays. I’ve stayed at Yukarikan twice before. The rooms are roomy, the food is excellent, and you can eat in your room. Breakfast was served in the dining area and tasted great too. I’d happily stay again. It’s a hot spring inn in Susa, Sada Town, and one I’d strongly recommend. On Saturday, January 15, 2022, at 10:30 AM, it was 4°C, 70% humidity, and partly sunny. I also drove out to Sada on a beautiful early spring day and got to relax in the hot spring at Yukarikan again. This inn really is the best. That was Saturday, March 12, 2022, at 11:15 AM, with sunshine, 18°C, and 79% humidity.

The food is delicious, and they keep the number of guests limited. The large public bath is rather small, though, and you can’t bathe in the morning. There’s a large rock bath in the room’s indoor hot spring, but the tap runs slowly, so start it as soon as you arrive if you want the water to get comfortably warm. Susa Shrine is right next door and is nice to visit.

I had a relaxing Saturday here. The indoor bath has a decent amount of space, though the outdoor one is small. The washing area could use a little more room between spots. Food is available at the facility and is pretty good for the price. The soba place outside closes at 4:30 PM, while the restaurant inside stays open until 9:30 PM, which is handy.
