The setting feels wonderfully secluded, even though it isn't far away. We only spent one night at Urashima Village, and I wish we'd stayed longer. The accommodation is spacious and well equipped, especially for groups. We could explore the adjoining beach, little shrine, and land bridge, which was a real treat. The design fits the landscape thoughtfully, and the buildings' scorched cladding is especially striking. If you're into design, it's an ideal place to hole up and disconnect.
The food was excellent. I had sea bream rice and shabu-shabu, and it was all delicious. I could keep my own drinks and alcohol in the fridge, which was convenient. There were local beers and champagne in there too, and I could buy more if I ran out. Paying with PayPay was easy. I stayed over Golden Week, and the whole place felt sophisticated, with a lovely sea view and a very clean sauna. It was a satisfying, comfortable stay, and I'd definitely come back.
The food was more interesting than I expected. A big two-tier wooden box called “Urashima's Treasure Box” held a steamer meal packed with fresh local sea bream and other ingredients, plus rice balls made with bone-in chicken. It was self-service, but everything was piping hot, surprisingly tasty, and very filling. I liked how the owner's personal taste came through in the details, from the outdoor charcoal grill to the décor, amenities, accessories, and paintings. It feels like a place to get away from daily life and lose track of time. With only three buildings, it's still a hidden gem, and its future looks promising. I stayed overnight at “URASHIMA VILLAGE” in Kagawa, looking out toward Maruyamajima, an uninhabited island in Mitoyo that is said to be where the Urashima Taro legend began. The calm Seto Inland Sea made for a beautiful sunset, and at high tide the lone sandbar to the island seemed almost mythical. I was drawn by the private sauna and whole-cottage rental. The cottage itself was elegant, with a living and dining area and terrace upstairs, two bedrooms downstairs, and a spacious bathroom with both a tub and shower. It’s handy for a large group and quite affordable. I’ve never had comfort and luxury like this. Down a path through lush trees, the white sand beach and sea were visible from the little barrel sauna. I could jump right into the waves instead of using a cold bath. The heat eased, the water felt pleasantly cool, and I drifted off in a quiet moment that felt like paradise.
We had a lovely place to unwind as a family during summer vacation. It was spotlessly clean, and we could relax to the gentle sound of the waves. Dinner was delicious too, and we were very happy with the stay. We'd definitely like to return.
The quiet spring night was a lovely part of the stay. We listened to the waves while enjoying local sake and food from the refrigerator, paying with QR code. Earlier, we waited for low tide to visit Urashima Shrine on the island, and we really enjoyed both the sauna and the sea. The facilities and service make great use of the location, and dinner was presented like a treasure box.
