We stayed about eight nights. The location was great, and the room was nice, though smaller than the pictures made it look. The bath towels were kind of small, and the room could’ve used a little dusting, but it wasn’t bad. The main issue was a curry-like smell when we arrived. I couldn’t tell if it came from the building or the previous guest. We aired the room out every day, and the smell finally went away near the end of our stay. There’s a washer, and you can dry clothes across the street.

Azusa was a big help while we were planning, chatting with us via Insta chat. We booked every room for an extended family reunion and spent a lovely week in Tokyo. The roof terrace was great on warm September evenings, and we found plenty of brilliant shops and restaurants nearby. Getting to the sights was easy too. Nakano has a lovely local village feel, with a tiny downstairs bar and a friendly bartender, plus a lovely local coffee shop, Aozora coffee. Through the coffee shop we arranged an evening foot reflexology session at the apartment for four people. It was very welcome after a few long days of walking.

This Airbnb was one of the best maintained places I’ve stayed in. It had everything we needed and check-in was really smooth. At Tokyo hotel prices, the rooms can be tiny, but this place had a decent-sized room, a small kitchen, and a little dining and living area. We were very happy with our choice. It’s one metro stop from Shinjuku, so connections are great, though the nearest metro station is a 15-minute walk. There are lots of small eateries and department stores nearby, and Nakano Broadway is a quirky place to shop.
