If you're on foot like I was and want to explore mostly by walking, this may not be the most practical place to base yourself. The area around it isn't great for walking, and the main spots are spread out. A bike rental station nearby would help too. The hotel is close to the start of a 1-kilometer biking mark, but right now you'd need to rent a bike across town, ride past the hotel, then return it later by bus. For people with a car, or those here just for the dolphin 🐬 swim tour, it's a perfect stay, and hotel pickup is available for the tour. I had a really pleasant time in a Western-style room with its own bathroom and toilet. The hotel is in a quiet part of the island, and the bus from the ferry brought me straight there. My arrival overlapped with breakfast, and I could pay for a Japanese-style meal. There were also peanut butter, jelly, and chocolate spread on the shelf. They kindly gave me a lift to the bike shop, which made things much easier. Dinner was delicious: sashimi the first night, then a whole fish cooked just right the second night. It reminded me of Turkish home-style meals. Each guest gets different food, as someone had noted. I later realized some guests stay long-term and eat here instead of cooking at home, before going to work and coming back for dinner. It made the stay feel special, like being among the locals. If you understand Japanese, you can listen to their friendly after-work chats or join in. They seemed kind and pleasant, eating and chatting before heading back to their rooms to rest for the next workday. That's part of what makes this hotel unique.
