Hotel Route-Inn Miyako

Free parking was especially useful for our stop while driving from Oirase sightseeing toward Sendai, and the hotel suited what we needed. It’s at the edge of Miyako city centre, a quiet but convenient spot. Eateries are a five to ten minute drive away, and there’s a petrol station next door. Inside, there’s a large bath and the usual Japanese hotel amenities, including free coffee and vending machines. Breakfast is simple, with plenty of choices.

The beach and breakfast were the best parts, and there’s free coffee in the lobby too. This is a good budget option for tourists, right across from a beach. Staff were welcoming and spoke good English. Rooms had their own toilets, unlike some similar hotels, and the public bath is divided for men and women.

This was my first Route Inn while hiking the Michinoku Coastal Trail, and I liked it so much I returned a year later. The welcoming staff, comfortable rooms and complimentary public bath made for a very nice stay. With the bus station right in front, it’s a great base for exploring nature or traveling along the MCT.

After a long winter drive, this inexpensive roadside hotel was simple but perfectly good enough. It’s put together well, with eateries and a pharmacy nearby and easy parking. The public bath is a welcome way to soothe the tiredness.
