The bed guard for my baby had a much bigger gap than the ones I’ve seen at other hotels. The room setup for the baby was otherwise one of the more considerate ones. Breakfast at the restaurant was just okay, nothing especially impressive but nothing to complain about either. What stood out was the staff. From the front door to housekeeping, everyone I met was polite and friendly, and the service felt top-tier. I’ve stayed at more than 150 hotels in five years, from the US to Europe and elsewhere, including Hilton, Marriott, and IHG properties. The staff here seem to get excellent customer service training, and you feel it when you arrive. My friend and I didn’t use facilities beyond the lounge, but there were lots of photogenic spots, especially the outdoor pool. Both our room and the lounge had a great view of Irabu Bridge. Lounge cocktails came with enough food to replace dinner, and there was even non-alcoholic beer. As a breastfeeding mom, I couldn’t have been happier. I highly recommend the resort, especially if you have a diamond tier. They have snacks available all day, including Okinawan cookies and donuts.

Everything about the stay brought us happiness, and the city was easy to visit from the hotel. The facilities, especially the beds, were clean and comfortable, and all the staff were kind and attentive. My seven-year-old son had a fantastic time on the kids’ pool slide, and the room service was excellent. I’m especially grateful to Mr. Yuta Irei, who kindly helped me recover a lost item. His thoughtfulness makes me want to come back. Thanks as well to the Korean-speaking male staff member whose name I unfortunately don’t know, for his warm help and hospitality. I’m already looking forward to another visit. A couple of small things could make it even better: the poolside pizza was a little overcooked and short on cheese, and at check-in it might help to use a number system or clearer way of communicating with guests instead of calling names while they wait. Apart from those points, everything was wonderful. Thank you for such a memorable stay! 🌿✨

The hotel has the usual Hilton resort amenities, including restaurants, an executive lounge, a gym, a bar, and a spa. Rooms are comfortably sized, even for foreign travelers. The building is older, though, and room prices are definitely high for it. The best part is the view from Hilton Okinawa Miyako Island Resort. Almost every room looks out over the ocean, and the clear water and beaches are stunning from this location. Staff are very friendly, but English conversation can be difficult. Chinese is easier, since some staff speak it fluently. If that doesn’t work, they use translation software, though that takes away a little from the service.

Breakfast was a highlight across all four mornings. There was plenty to choose from, mostly Western food alongside Okinawan and Miyako Island dishes, and the eggs Benedict made to order and pancakes were my favorites. The menu shifted a little each day. Around 9 AM you might have to wait in line, but serving breakfast until 2 PM was great for sleeping in. Our sunset view room was in the middle of the hotel, with a lovely view of the sea and Irabu Bridge. Waking up to that each day was a treat. Sunset Beach is right across the road, and the gentle waves were nice for spotting fish and coral while snorkeling. It's rocky, though, so water shoes are a good idea. The area is quiet and works well if you're driving, with Irabu Bridge just a two-minute drive away. A few practical things were less convenient. The floors are long, so getting back to the room takes a while. My iPhone digital key opened the room but not the elevator, and the sensor seemed a bit slow. Despite the hotel's size, there are only five washing machines, and laundry left unattended by other guests could be hard to deal with. There isn't a phone in the laundry room to call reception. The parking area is spacious, but the elevator doesn't reach it directly, so you have to use the stairs from the main entrance. On check-in day, the kettle had residue inside. Washing it several times didn't get it clean, and I couldn't tell what a previous guest had used it for. A staff member came to look, replaced it promptly, and even boiled water in the new kettle before bringing it to us. I really appreciated that care. I enjoyed the stay and would come back to Miyako Island.

The resort itself felt luxurious, from the beds, linens, towels, decor and lighting to the pools and landscaping. We spent five nights here as part of our honeymoon, after staying at the Sesoko Island Hilton. The staff were friendly, attentive and accommodating. We liked the nightly sunset views from the executive lounge, and the complimentary alcoholic drinks from 5 to 7 PM were a nice touch. The lounge is small and gets crowded before sunset, with a good but limited food selection. We preferred the larger lounge and wider food choice at Sesoko. Breakfast is also available there, but the offering is quite limited. Nigisa was often at the lounge desk and was lovely and helpful with dietary needs, excursions and other things. Downstairs, breakfast had a much wider range, and we also enjoyed the Italian restaurant. The pools were beautiful and comfortably warm, with an adult pool, family pool and children's pool. There's a pool bar with drinks and a limited food menu. The beach by the hotel is rocky, so bring water shoes. We explored Aragusuku, Yonaha and Sumayama instead, and there are lots of gorgeous beaches around the island. Daybeds were available to rent. A Canopy resort was being built next door, and we didn't see a pool being built there. The existing pools already got busy on sunny days, so they may be quite crowded after it opens. We didn't use the spa, though the massage prices looked reasonable and comparable to US spas. The resort is a short taxi ride or drive from the main town, and I recommend trying some local restaurants. Uber works here, and rental cars are available from several places. People were kind and accommodating to English speakers, and Google Translate came in handy. We'll happily return to Miyako and the Hilton.
