The room smelled extremely moldy. With very energetic kids, I'd absolutely avoid this place. The floors and walls are thin and made of cheap material, even on the first floor, so neighbors in the same building will complain. Some Japanese people are unfortunately very sensitive and not kid-friendly.

The building and room interiors were just what I wanted, and reminded me of home after 25 years living in California. There is free coffee in the lobby, you can rent things like board games and snorkel gear, and there are plenty of free umbrellas. The location is not ideal, about a 25-minute walk downtown, though having a car or motorbike makes that less of an issue. They seem to have trouble accepting chip credit cards, so bring cash just in case.

We made a last-minute booking on Booking.com and got a lower rate than usual. This is a very new place, and I'd recommend it if you're after affordable serviced apartment-style accommodation. The staff were friendly and polite throughout. It's closer to newer commercial areas like McDonald's and MaxValu than to the ocean and beaches, so rent a car if you want to explore Miyako island properly. The facilities and amenities are great.
