Wellness Villa BRISA

Great views from the room, very reasonable prices, and front desk staff who were second to none.

This wellness villa was disappointing. It felt like an apartment block hotel with no atmosphere. It was dirty, and there were no amenities or services.

The hotel feels a little outdated, but the rooms are spacious, clean, and well equipped, with everything you need in the kitchen. The bay view is beautiful. There’s a shuttle to the other Shigira resort hotels, which makes it easier to get to nearby beaches, and you can use the pools at those hotels too. Electric bikes are available to rent at a nearby hotel for exploring the island. There aren’t really services on site, so you’ll need to use the ones at the neighboring Shigira resort hotels. That didn’t bother us, but it’s good to know. You can also take an airport shuttle for 1200 yen per person, though it drops you by another hotel. From there, you can wait for the hotel shuttle or get a taxi. We took a taxi because the next shuttle was in 25 minutes.

The hotel looked nice and was very clean, and I liked the spacious rooms. Being part of a resort was handy because we could use its facilities, bars, and restaurants and charge everything to our room. We made good use of that, especially since it was hard to get off the resort for the reasons below. Our stay got off to a rough start. The website and booking page showed an airport shuttle, but when we asked, we were told it wasn’t available for arrivals after 17:30. We had to take a taxi, which was a letdown. As non-Japanese speakers, we also found it hard to arrange some things. You need an international driver’s license to rent a car, and the Segway tour wasn’t available to us because the explanation is only in Japanese and they said it wouldn’t be safe. The staff were very friendly and did all they could to help, but keep these points in mind when choosing a place in the resort. Bikes can be rented, but there were only two and they were expensive, around ¥1900 for six hours or ¥500 for just one hour.
