I didn't stay at the hotel, but the private hot spring room is incredible. The tub is on the small side, comfortable for 2-3 people, while four feels crowded. From the water you get an amazing ocean view, with a cool breeze that makes it really relaxing. A lovely way to unwind after a busy trip or just at the end of the day. If you're nearby, drop in. Sorry there's no photo, there were naked people around.

The dinner was decent but not especially memorable. Breakfast was much better, we really enjoyed the Japanese buffet, and every staff member was friendly. Our Japanese-style ocean-view room was spacious and elegantly decorated, with a huge window where you can watch the sunrise. The open-air hot spring, which you reserve at check-in, was roomy too. Open its little wooden window and you can see the sea and a few surfers. There's a free car service to Aoshima station, the nearest JR stop, and the ride takes less than 10 minutes. I'd recommend staying here for the ocean views :)

You can see the famous Devil's Washboard right outside the window at this upscale hotel. The ground-floor rooms each have a name instead of a number, plus an outdoor tub and full-height glass windows. The food was generally good.

The setting is stunning, with really relaxing beach views, and the beach is just a short walk away. The welcome was very hospitable.
