Amano-hashidate Yusai

The sea and Amanohashidate looked magnificent from our window in both the morning and evening. The bath wasn't a hot spring, but it was filled with yuzu and akamoku seaweed, and we really enjoyed it. The innkeepers were a lovely couple, and their hospitality made the stay special. My husband likes mackerel sushi, so when I mentioned that, they went out of their way to serve some with our meal. We were touched by the gesture. Dinner and breakfast were both delicious, and we left very satisfied. We also enjoyed hearing the owners talk about local ingredients, history, and the area they love. They used to run a traditional inn, and their charming, tasteful tableware reflects that. I booked after reading reviews and looking at photos, then followed my intuition and stayed two nights. Our children are married and have moved out, so my husband and I wanted a chance to relax together. Thank you for a wonderful time.

They explained the ingredients in detail, and each dish showed so much care and skill. It was the most delicious meal I've had at this inn. Already looking forward to visiting again!

The inn is clean and lovely, with a warm feel from all the wood. The couple running it were very kind, and the service was excellent. I had high hopes for the food since it's an auberge, but unfortunately it was too salty overall and didn't have much of the broth's savory flavor. They used costly ingredients in different ways, but the matsutake mushroom soup, for example, had Niwa beef and fish in it. The meat came out dry, and there was barely any matsutake aroma. It was disappointing. I feel bad leaving such a critical review, but before the GoTo campaign a night here cost 40,000 yen. I'm giving it three stars and hope things improve.
