I stayed in the Hazuki room for one night as a solo traveler, and it was surprisingly roomy. The lobby was spotless, with a faint wood scent as soon as I walked in. The place has been renovated, but it still feels like a traditional inn made to give weary travelers a restful stop. Miyazu Station is about a two-hour trip from Kyoto Station, then the inn is another ten-minute walk. I visited just before Golden Week weekend, on 25.05.02, so there weren't many other guests around. The inn has a small indoor Onsen on the first floor, and one of the area's few sulfur springs. I really enjoyed it. The amenities include a weighted futon, yukata, tatami, refrigerator, TV, and air conditioning. They may not match what you'd find at a modern ryokan or hotel, but the old-fashioned feel is part of the appeal. The staff are warm and happy to help if you need anything. I also noticed the inn was featured in the anime “Zatsu Tabi / That’s journey”, so fans may come for pilgrimage to real-life locations. If you're after a traditional Japanese ryokan, an indoor Onsen, and a Japanese breakfast set meal while exploring the area, this is a great option.
