Hotel Route Inn Miyoshi Ekimae

I'm very satisfied for what I paid. The public bath was empty when I went, so I got to take pictures! ♨️ Booking through the official website got me a drink coin, which I used for a free juice from the vending machine in the photo. Breakfast can be a bit crowded at times, but I can understand that. For this price it’s plenty. The parking lot isn’t especially small, though large vehicles can’t fit. You’re in the rain for just a short stretch from the multi-story garage, about 20 meters. I saw a lot of complaints in the reviews, but it’s a cheap hotel, so people with high expectations should look elsewhere. I was very happy with my stay and would definitely come back!!

I ended up staying in Miyoshi City after the Matsue Expressway closed because of an accident late one night during Golden Week. It was nearly last minute even though I called ahead, but they made it easy for me to have a comfortable stay, which I really appreciated. The price was reasonable, and the breakfast and large public bath were great. My room also had a sofa. It was an emergency stop this time, but I’d stay here again if I’m in the area. Thank you very much.

There weren’t many restaurants or any convenience stores close by, but the large shopping center with a supermarket across the diagonal was really handy. The hotel is near Miyoshi Station, around a seven-minute walk from the ticket gate. Staff were kind and check-in went smoothly. The room had the usual Route Inn setup and I slept well, though getting around with lots of luggage might be tricky.

The worst part for me is the bed. The mattress is so hard it feels like sleeping on tatami, and in winter the bed by the window gets cold air coming through the walls. It feels like they skimped on insulation. Breakfast is a mess when the hotel is full. Since it’s included for everyone, you can end up waiting over 30 minutes, and with so few staff the queue barely moves and food doesn’t get replenished. Go near the end, when it’s quiet, and there may be nothing left. Maybe they call it eco-friendly, but replenishment seems to stop after a certain point. Depending on when you go, it can look like leftovers. Calling this breakfast free doesn’t make it so, since it’s imposed and charged to everyone. If you don’t eat breakfast or don’t want a chaotic meal, I wouldn’t recommend staying here. Every time I come, I’m reminded that nothing in this world is good when it’s free. The hotel design needs a rethink, especially here. There are too few elevators for the number of rooms, so breakfast, check-in, and checkout all bring long waits. The rooms have that old business-hotel layout, cramped bathrooms, and oddly placed furniture that makes the space feel tight. It’s uncomfortable overall. I have to stay here on business because my company designates it, but each visit makes me feel I don’t want to use this hotel group again.
