The staff were really helpful, and I appreciated being allowed into the on-site onsen as a foreign guest with tattoos. The hours alternate between men and women since there aren't separate baths. There's also parking at the hotel, which made things easy, and a big selection of pillows. I stayed eight nights in Morioka and would come back. It's a bit outside the city center, and the room is small. If I were sharing it with someone and we both had a lot of luggage, it might feel too cramped.

I liked having a large shopping center just behind the hotel for picking up food, and there are stylish restaurants along the riverbank out front. Morioka has plenty of other places to eat, too. The center and sights like Morioka Castle are walkable, as is Morioka Station. The room was clean and had Wi-Fi that worked for online meetings. Breakfast tasted good, though the dining area is small and gets busy. You may have to wait, and if you arrive late there might not be many side dishes left.

A good fit for a one-night stop as a backpacker. The price is affordable, breakfast comes free, and there's a Max Value supermarket nearby that's open around the clock. It's also less than a 10-minute walk from the JR station, and seniors can get discounts.

The room and bathroom are small, as you'd expect at a budget hotel in Japan, but mine was clean and quiet, so I slept well. What really stood out was the staff, who were friendly and excellent, along with the food and bath house. You can walk to the train station from here. I stayed here 13 years ago and have now come back. I'm glad the service is still what I'd hoped for after all this time, and I plan to stay again.
