Hotel Million

The breakfast they offered us for free the next morning turned out to be excellent, much better than I expected. There were several kinds of sausage, a salmon steak slice, natto, tofu, rice, bread, miso soup, juices, and coffee. The soup was delicious, and staff encouraged us to have more if we wanted. I went back for salmon twice because it was fresh, juicy, still warm from the frypan, and not dry or over-salted. We were very pleased. Despite its poor appearance, Hotel Million gave better service than a much more expensive, newer hotel. That was a real surprise, and I’ll definitely stay at Million next time. I’d expected a very basic place because it was so cheap. The room looked average at first, but the bed was excellent, with perfectly clean sheets, a spring mattress, and a decent pillow. I’ve had a much worse experience at a better-looking Route Inn hotel, where the mattress was draconian hard with no springs and the pillow too soft, giving me neck pain the next day. The fairly modern automated air filter speeds up when you walk near it, but is quiet when there’s no activity. There was a relatively big, cold, empty fridge ready for our sodas and sweets, rather than expensive minibar drinks. The room was relatively large, with a table and two chairs, flat screen television, and phone. The shower and toilet were perfectly clean, and there was free shampoo, body soap, and fresh towels. Free WiFi was always good speed.
