Hotel Route Inn Grand Muroran

The staff were friendly and clearly worked hard, and getting to Noboribetsu Station took about 20 minutes. The hotel is around a 5-6 minute walk from the station. There were thoughtful extras too, like a welcome treat in the fridge, yakult in the morning, and ice cream in the evening. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and functional; the onsen was spacious and great, and breakfast was delicious and worth paying for. For this price, the number of amenities is amazing. One of my best stays in Japan, and even worldwide.

Honestly, this was damn good for the price. The rooms are Japan sized and do what they need to. There’s a free onsen and supper, plus laundry and dryer that work, free manga, and massage chairs. One of the best 3 star Japanese hotels I’ve stayed in so far.

The onsen was a real game changer. I went twice a day, and except for one visit during our three days there, I had it to myself. There were complimentary noodles late in the evening, ice cream, a massage chair, probiotic drink, and fresh ground coffee too. We had a rental car, so I can’t really comment on the location, except that it’s 30 minutes by car from Noborobestu, which I appreciated. There are some great places to see in the city, though check the weather, since many trails and viewpoints we planned to visit were closed. That has nothing to do with the hotel, but adhd be like that sometimes. Lawsons is right next door. Some reviews mentioned small rooms, but with just carry-on and a personal item, I had plenty of space. Highly recommend, and I’d stay again without hesitation if we’re in Hokkaido in the future. We’ve stayed at Dormy Inn plenty of times. It’s a premium business hotel with lots of little extras. The sensor light in the room is the one frustration: moving the foot of the doona can turn it on, so getting up to use the toilet feels like being caught in headlights. I mentioned it at checkout and was only told a staff member could somehow turn it off. I’d suggest bringing a decent sized Band-Aid to cover the sensor.
