Funky Monkey Lodge, Myoko ファンキーモンキーロッジ 妙高

I came back to Myoko for a second year, and booking here again was an easy decision. Seiko and Hiro are lovely hosts, and the lodge feels peaceful, clean, and homey. There’s plenty of room to store gear, plus a boot-drying room and a hot bath. It’s great value, and I’ll be back.

Kids are very welcome here, and the bouldering wall kept both them and some adults busy. The owners are a friendly couple who help with things like parking, finding local restaurants and activities, and even sharing a drink on the balcony. The place has a lovely homely feel, with service and quality I haven’t found in that balance elsewhere, especially for such a reasonable price. You don’t need to know Japanese to get around, since the owner speaks English fluently. Funky Monkey guesthouse is an easy recommendation if you like a friendly atmosphere.

Our kids still talk about the evenings watching baseball with Seiko and Hiro, and Hiro's veggie garden was another lovely part of the stay. We were there for three nights in June, and the lodge felt wonderfully relaxing thanks to their hospitality. The breakfasts and dinners were delicious, and the climbing wall was a lot of fun. Funky Monkey Lodge made memories we won't forget, and we'll definitely return.

The food was epic, and there’s a fun climbing wall in the shared living room. The owners are snow people too, so we went skiing and snowboarding together. You can do laundry, get your skis fixed, and take care of other things there as well. Such a nice, warm place. I’ll definitely come back next time I’m in Myoko :):
