Nobu-san and his wife made our stay at Yado Brodiaea feel like home. The guesthouse is clean, warm, and incredibly cozy, and we felt that as soon as we walked in. Their kindness and attention made the trip much easier. Nobu-san drove us to the ski rental shop, waited while we got everything ready, then picked us up after a full day skiing. He also took us to the train station when we left, so the departure was smooth and stress-free. After skiing, the nearby resort onsen was a great place to relax, and the guesthouse offers discounted ski passes too. There are a few cafés within reach at the visitor center, Nagomi, and the nearby hotel. It’s a bit of a walk to the bus stop and some restaurants, but we enjoy walking, so it didn’t bother us. Just keep it in mind if you have heavy bags. The hospitality here was heartfelt, along with all the comfort. We’d absolutely stay again.

I’ve read plenty of reviews praising hosts at other places, but in my more than three years in Japan, nobody has come close to the hostess and her husband at Brodiea. I’ve spent three or four times as much on stays that weren’t as good as this one. I hope they have room for me next season, because I’ll be back.

The bus stop nearby makes it easy to reach the popular ski resorts, and hotel staff can arrange discounted lift tickets and parking. Breakfast was great too, just right before a morning on the slopes. The hostess and her husband are friendly, always smiling, and attentive well beyond what I’d expect, even working hard to communicate with us. They’re wonderful at what they do, and I’m already looking forward to coming back in summer. P.S. The owners seem to collect fun things and beer bottles from around the world, so bring them a little trinket if you remember!

The hosts did all they could to make us comfortable, even with the language barrier, and we were sad to leave. They’re warm and welcoming, and the host shared plenty of useful information and recommendations. Ski tickets for resorts in the area were discounted, and there was a hearty breakfast for an affordable extra charge. I’d highly recommend staying here for an authentic experience.
