I stayed at this youth hostel styled guesthouse in summer about 4 years ago. The host was friendly, and I liked the cozy atmosphere, though he may not speak much English. I don't know if it's still the only youth hostel around Nagaoka City, but I'd like to visit again next time I travel through. (Chung-han Kuo from Taipei)

We rented the whole old house, and it was cozy, with bunk beds that felt like a secret hideout. We made tasty food from freshly picked vegetables, and for breakfast we could make our own bread and freshly roasted coffee. They had a pot of barley tea and even prepared fireworks, which showed nice attention to detail. I was surprised by the bugs, but they were a reminder of how much nature 🌱 there is. There was a freezer for making ice too, which was perfect for summer vacation. I'd definitely like to come back ✨

The nights were so quiet and relaxing, and the innkeeper was calm and very kind. The room had a lovely atmosphere and a pleasant aroma. There was a kitchen, plus a hammock on the terrace, and you could BBQ or set off handheld fireworks in the garden (but no fireworks allowed). It's a nice place to stop during a trip, but also somewhere you can just spend the day unwinding. I made some great travel memories. Thank you very much.

Hard to find, so I got a little lost the first time. I think the place is ideal for 3-4 people, and it seems to be run by one man. The kitchen has all the equipment you'd need, and you can BBQ on the balcony. There are two sets of bunk beds in the bedroom with a full set of futons, and bread and coffee are provided for breakfast.
