We had a brilliant meal with perfect service in a private room. This shippoku wasn't the usual Kaiseki, with tasty fusion dishes like sweet potato and egg sushi, lobster with cheese gratiné, shrimp cake “toast”, and pork belly stewed in mirin. Our dining room had its own private bathroom, and the restaurant offered valet service for our car. The whole meal came on fine Arita porcelain. 😳

We had a fantastic shippoku lunch in a private room, and it was reasonably priced. Book ahead.

I came with a client for a celebration and couldn't take many photos, but all the dishes were tasteful. At the end, I got to try sukiyaki in a golden pot for the first time. The place is a bit intimidating from the outside, but once you're in, the atmosphere is really nice and has the feel of a traditional Japanese restaurant. I'm not sure I'll ever go on my own, but I'd like to return. It's about a 20-minute walk from Nagasaki Station and around five minutes from the nearest tram stop, near the Nagasaki Library. The whole restaurant is non-smoking, and smoking isn't allowed on the premises, but you can smoke at the tobacco shop across the street.

I brought my elderly mother, who uses a wheelchair, and the staff were so thoughtful and considerate. I'm very grateful. Every dish was delicious, especially the braised pork. They said it had simmered for several days, and it was amber-colored, glossy and tender, with just the right sweetness. It lived up to what I'd heard. For a long-established restaurant, I think they make the best braised pork in Nagasaki!

After arriving at Nagasaki Terminal aboard the Diamond Princess on October 20, 2025, I had a lunch reservation arranged by the Mitsubishi AMEX Black Card concierge. I'm looking forward to trying Shippoku cuisine and braised pork belly for the first time.
