The price was 7700 yen for a weekday night, with parking and breakfast included, so I’ve got no complaints. It’s a little old-school, but I only needed somewhere to sleep and it was excellent for what I paid. The check-in staff member spoke reasonable English and had no problem splitting the payment between my credit card and cash. Thanks.

The deluxe single room was new and clean, and I had a pleasant one-night stay while visiting Motonosumi Shrine. Getting to the JR station was easy, about three minutes on foot via the footbridge. The location was alright, though the convenience store was a bit of a walk, around 10-15 minutes.

The futon was fluffy, and the sofa bed was large and really comfortable. I also enjoyed the dried horse mackerel breakfast and the cocoa from the free coffee maker at the front desk. The room was very clean down to the little details, with good hot water pressure and a clean shower curtain. It had a slightly historic feel outside, while the room itself had Scandinavian-style furniture and felt comfortable. The station, bar district, and a supermarket next door made it convenient, including for picking up souvenirs. The cleaning staff greeted me warmly in the hallway when I checked out. I’d definitely stay again. Thank you!

The facilities are old, but renovated and comfortable. The staff were pleasant when I met them, although I was confused when I called to confirm my reservation and mention my late arrival, then was told rather coldly to confirm by email. The station is close, but there are almost no streetlights, so the streets get dark at night. It really does feel like the countryside!

Although the railway side is quiet, there are plenty of useful places nearby: a supermarket, bookstore, and laundromat next to the hotel, plus a home improvement store and even a 100-yen shop on the national highway side. The hotel is behind Nagato City Station, whose only entrance is on the seaside, so you have to leave through the ticket gate and cross a public pedestrian overpass to reach it. That back side feels a bit run-down. The building is somewhat old and typical of a regional business hotel, but the renovated room was a completely different story and very comfortable. The one issue was the new air conditioning, which didn’t work very effectively even at high temperatures and may need to be checked.
