During ski season, the lodge is handy for Blanche Takayama Ski Resort, about a 10-minute drive away. There’s also a drying room by the winter entrance, which is useful. The owner is a ski instructor and can ski with the children if you want, then make them a ski chart. Our child enjoys checking progress on it. The dining room wall displays name tags for children who’ve taken lessons, showing how many have stayed at Harmony and enjoyed skiing. The guest rooms, dining room, baths, and the rest of the building are all kept spotless and comfortable. We had the Japanese breakfast, which was delicious, with a good range of food and generous portions.

We came back for a second time, this time for a company recreation day using the day-trip BBQ plan. They provided all the barbecue equipment, so we only needed to bring the meat, vegetables, and other ingredients. The setting is great and stays cool in summer. There was a new pizza oven this time, so we tried making dough from scratch, and the pizza turned out delicious.

The rooms are clean and the food is tasty. They offer ski lessons for adults as well as kids. The children's classes have their own levels, and once a child clears one, they get a tag hung on their board. It looks like a lot of fun.

Bring your own ingredients and you can barbecue on the terrace. They take care of lighting the charcoal and cleaning up afterward, so it’s easy. A good fit if you’re after that campsite kind of atmosphere.

Everything was impressively clean, and the kids loved the tasty food. I’d like to come back in winter.
