The breakfast buffet was a real surprise, it was great, on a Marriott or Renaissance level. Staff were superb and went out of their way to help. The housekeeping team did leave some rubbish in the room on most days, though. We chose the hotel as long-time Bonvoy members. It’s around a 15-minute walk from Nagoya train station, and there are hotels closer. For anyone wanting a five-minute walk to the subway, this isn’t the one. On the other hand, it gave us a chance to walk more around Nagoya. A nice hotel with a great breakfast, as long as you’re prepared to do some walking.

Breakfast in the first-floor restaurant was another highlight. Diamond members can use priority seating, and Ms. Itoyama was especially thoughtful. When she saw I was struggling to carry hot coffee to my table, she took it and set it down for me. Over the next few mornings she greeted guests with a warm smile, which made the room feel welcoming. I checked in at the Executive Lounge as a Hilton Honors Diamond member. A concierge at the ground-floor lobby took my luggage and parcels straight to my room. That kind of attention felt more like something at Conrad or WA properties, and was a lovely surprise. The lounge has moved to the second floor and has been renovated; its Happy Hour selection has noticeably improved in both quality and variety, and the team there were consistently warm, polite, and professional. Staff also brought an item I’d had delivered directly to my room. I’d stayed at Hilton Nagoya before, and the service felt even more refined this time. It’ll be my first choice when I visit Nagoya again.

Nagoya felt calm, and the locals were very polite and friendly. English was a little harder to manage than in Tokyo or Kyoto, perhaps because there are fewer foreign visitors, but the hospitality was sincere. At the hotel, the breakfast staff were friendly and efficient, and the gym and facilities were decent and well kept, especially for a new property. The main disappointment was the breakfast benefit. As a Marriott Bonvoy Platinum member, I was told at check-in that breakfast wasn’t complimentary because there’s no lounge. At many other Marriott properties, including Courtyards and select-service hotels without lounges, breakfast is usually part of my benefits. The price here was reasonable and affordable, but the inconsistency in elite recognition was frustrating. I also didn’t feel especially acknowledged beyond the standard check-in. A clearer explanation, or an email before arrival, would have helped set expectations. The hotel itself feels fresh, modern, and fairly spacious by Japan standards. We arrived by taxi and were warmly greeted, though nobody helped with our luggage. It wasn’t a big problem, but I didn’t expect that at a Marriott. Overall, it was a comfortable, pleasant stay. I just wish members were told about benefit differences ahead of time.

The rooms were spacious and had good amenities. I was glad the air conditioning could still cool the room, since many hotels switch to heating only in autumn and winter. We had a lovely time celebrating a family member’s birthday in the room. We visited with family at the end of November. We’d enjoyed Courtyard by Marriott in Sapporo, so we tried the Nagoya one and were glad we did. It’s a fairly new hotel in a peaceful neighborhood, with a coin laundry around the corner, a large supermarket opposite, convenience stores one street away, and a short walk to the subway. That station is one stop from Nagoya station. Breakfast is served in the first-floor restaurant. Tour groups can make it busy early in the morning, but there was a good spread of Japanese and Western choices. Staff were polite and could communicate in simple English.

We slept really well, the bed and pillows were comfortable, and the whole hotel was spotless, modern, and well maintained. The check-in staff, concierge, and lounge team were all friendly and helpful throughout our stay. It’s also well placed near shopping areas, so it was easy to explore. We had a relaxing visit and would definitely stay at Courtyard by Marriott Nagoya again.
