The building is laid out like a regular house, so sound from upstairs carries straight through. We were on the second floor, and the young people on the third seemed to play loud music, sing, and jump around from evening until about 3 AM. We couldn’t sleep. With nobody managing the place, there was no quick way to get help, and the two of us meant to sleep in the living room ended up in the kitchen and bathroom. It felt like being stuck in a karaoke box. If noise bothers you at all, I’d pay a little more for proper accommodation.

We used the house at its full capacity of 10 people and still had plenty of room. Bedrooms and the living room have tatami floors, and you can roll the futons away during the day to make space, especially for socializing in the living room. The three-floor house has accommodation on each floor, with practical furnishings that make efficient use of space, as you often find in Japan. It’s near one of Nagoya’s biggest hospitals, but we didn’t hear bothersome sounds like ambulance sirens. With luggage in summer heat, we’d suggest Uber or a taxi from Nagoya Eki, otherwise take the subway. When an electrical fuse tripped, we got clear instructions on how and where to reset it quickly. For breakfast, Robin Coffeeshop on Google Maps is a good option. The two elderly ladies open as early as 5:00 AM.
