It’s handy for doing laundry, with a washing machine in the room, and lots of shops and restaurants are close enough to walk to. The routes can look longer on Google Maps than they really are. The balcony washing line is just one rope stretched between two extension arms, so there isn’t much room to hang clothes. You might need to ask reception for more rope or buy some yourself to add lines. The room is small, but that’s fine if you’ll be out exploring. The bed was very soft, and I sank into the mattress, though I still slept pretty comfortably. It works well as a place to rest and freshen up.

The building and rooms were very dirty. Room service never came during the three days we stayed, and reception was always closed. The room cleaning contractor, described as Nepali from Nepal, didn’t seem to care about cleaning at all.

We cancelled our reservation because the room cleanliness wasn’t up to our expectations. There were stains and hair on the bed sheets, green slime on the balcony, and the area outside the entrance also needed attention. The staff understood our cancellation and handled it without hassle, which we appreciated. Getting a refund through the booking agency was difficult, though. Their policy would be more helpful if it were clearer in any situation.

There are two locations, one new and much better, the other old. We keep getting the old one, even when the photos on the room we booked through hotels.com clearly show the new property. There’s also no service available each day before 3 pm. I’ve stayed here several times because it’s convenient for Kokusai street, and it used to be an excellent place. Lately, it hasn’t been holding up well. Cleaning is poor and there’s dust everywhere. The air conditioning is always having some problem. This time, tissue was stuck out of it to stop the drips. The rooms have sinks, microwaves, and hobs, but no cups, pots, pans, or cutlery. They’re functional, but expensive for what you get.
