For my first trip to Okinawa, this felt like a safe, easy place to start. The location and rooms were nice, and it had great amenities. I’m really enjoying Okinawa.

We booked two rooms, numbers 513 and 514 on the fifth floor, and both were hot and humid because the air conditioning wasn’t working. There were dark mold spots throughout the bedrooms, around the beds, and in the bathrooms. I couldn’t put up with it, so I went down to the front desk since there was no phone in the room. I only mentioned that the room was hot, and they seemed to know there was a problem and offered to move us to the seventh floor. When I showed them photos of the mold, they looked surprised. The hygiene issue was really bad, and I’m considering reporting it to the Japan Hotel Association.

The hotel-wide air conditioning problem was only mentioned after we’d checked in and complained. That’s unacceptable.

On our third day, nobody took out the trash or replaced our towels, even though those services should have been included. We only got told someone would come up to collect the trash after we brought it up that evening. Our first impression had already been poor: we’d asked for a room that wasn’t at the side, but they assigned us one there without saying no other rooms were available. It felt like Chinese guests were being treated differently, and I wouldn’t recommend this hotel.
