Pension Raclette

The location works really well if you have a car: it’s right by Farm Tomita, about a 12-minute drive from Furano and 25 minutes from Biei. Without a rental car, I probably wouldn’t recommend staying here. The shared bathroom was always clean, and there was a small onsen in the shower room. My room had several bunk-style beds, a couch, a lovely view, and strong air conditioning, which matters a lot in Furano in summer. It was comfortable and clean. The staff were the highlight for me. They were incredibly friendly and helpful, spoke basic English, and I could have longer conversations using Google translate. Leaving on my last day was sad. The place felt cozy and homey, like an alpine mountain hut in the Alps, with quirky pictures, signs, and lots of photos everywhere. It was my favorite place I stayed in all of Japan. Plus, there’s a donkey!

Really good vibes and a pleasant stay. Great host, I’d definitely recommend it.

Toilets and the bath are on the shared floor below, but they’re very clean and easy to get to. In the room there are beds, a living area, and a washbasin. The staff were kind and welcoming, and after a delicious breakfast we got to see the donkey in the flower field early in the morning. It’s a cozy, fairytale-like bed and breakfast close to Tomita farm, with charming animal decorations all through the house. A lovely way to experience Furano’s peaceful farm life, especially if you love animals. I’d definitely recommend staying here on a trip.

The donkey starts voicing its opinions from 4am, but honestly, it adds to the charm. Breakfast was delicious, and they kindly served it earlier than usual to fit our flight. The place is really cute and right by the lavender farms, though it’s hard to reach without a car. The walls are fairly thin, so maybe not the best choice with young kids.
