I found the hotel convenient for a Nakashibetsu stay, and the staff were kind and helpful. My room had enough space for all the baggage and equipment I brought for work. The problem was the WiFi: since it’s offered to everyone coming in, it slowed down badly. One email took nearly an hour to send while I was trying to work. A separate network for hotel guests could help. Apart from that, the hotel was fine.

An old-fashioned hotel with just one elevator. The first floor has a restaurant-cafe, and there’s an izakaya on the third floor that stays open late. The first-floor onsen also admits paying visitors, so it can get crowded. It has an outdoor pool and a sauna. Breakfast costs JPY1.500.

The rooms could use an update, but they were still nice enough. The staff were really friendly, too.

The Yakiniku restaurant gave poor service and seemed to discriminate against foreigners. They turned down my booking after asking where the guest was from. Blacklist.
