We stayed in December, and the rooms were clean and spacious. The owner was friendly and recommended a great public bath just a few minutes away when we arrived. Breakfast came with the booking, and you can also arrange dinner for a small fee before you get there. I highly recommend it; the owner is a great cook, and home-cooked Japanese food was a treat. It's a short walk to the touristy spots around Nara Park, and close to the local station. Google Maps has an error saying this is a “female only inn.” I checked with the owner, who confirmed anyone can stay. We were three men, and she has updated the booking websites to reflect that.

The owner and her son were lovely and speak fluent English. Dinner was incredible, especially the gyoza, which I recommend. The futons were soft and very comfortable. I had a wonderful stay.

Breakfast was easily one of the best I've had in Nara. The hosts speak fluent, eloquent English, and the place was lovely. A great fit for international travelers, highly recommended!

I stayed two nights and had the western breakfast both mornings. Loved it, especially the amazing jam. The chef is top class and speaks perfect English. I can't recommend the place enough :)
