OYO Hotel Base Nara

My single room was spacious and had everything I needed, and the hotel was spotless. The shared bathrooms are separated by gender and located on two floors. The only snag was that I couldn’t leave my luggage there before check-in or after check-out. I contacted them through chat, and they sent information about nearby lockers.

Clean, comfortable, and convenient, with everything useful and no unnecessary extras. I found it much more practical than a typical hotel.

The women’s showers were clean and pleasant, but that was about the only good part. I heard the men’s weren’t as clean. This place was terrible. We stayed three nights, and someone came in drunk around midnight every night, yelling and laughing. The walls are so thin you can hear a phone vibrating next door. There’s an inch-wide gap under the bedroom door, so there’s no privacy. They provide earplugs, but they don’t help when people climb ladders and your bed shakes whenever a neighbor, or someone on the floor above, moves around. You can really only sleep between midnight and 6am. The mattresses are so thin I ended up with a sore neck. On the ground floor, the bathroom is beyond the lobby near the entrance, which makes you feel exposed. Avoid this place.

The common area is spacious, and there’s laundry and vending machines. The communal showers are separated by gender, modern, and very clean. We stayed one night, but could easily have stayed a few days. The beds and duvets were clean and comfortable, and the hotel was quiet and very clean. A perfect place to stay in Nara.
