My grandma (Noriko) owns this place. It’s over 50 years old and has a traditional, cozy, old-fashioned feel, which is why I recommend it if that’s what you’re looking for. The views are the best, and both the station and park are relatively close, so it’s a perfect spot for a few days. If you need anything, she’s always there to answer questions. I love my grandma very much, and I’m so grateful to everyone who stays here. She loves having the company around.

Staying here felt a bit like visiting my grandmother. The ryokan owner is a very sweet older woman who goes out of her way to help with whatever she can. It’s a great place in Nara if you want a taste of life in a real Japanese home.

This is a ryokan, so don’t expect the usual Western hostel or hotel setup. You may find better facilities or cheaper rates elsewhere, but the place has a warm, traditional Japanese home feel, with conveniences like WiFi, air conditioning, a hot shower, and a fridge. The older host is accommodating when you make reasonable requests.

The owner was friendly, and breakfast in the hall came with a view of the little garden. It’s a small, traditional ryōkan right in central Nara, with just a few rooms.
