Hotel Nikko Narita

The staff really made the stay for us. They were warm, smiling, and quick to help, and check-in was fast and orderly. We had a Japanese Style Family Room, which worked perfectly for our family of four. The rooms are smaller than I'm used to, but very clean, the futons were comfortable, and the hotel feels somewhat updated. For the price and location, it's good value. The winter illumination was pretty and fun to walk around. We paid extra for the breakfast buffet to make the morning easier, and it was absolutely worth it. The food was beyond good, the service attentive and friendly, and the dining area clean, spacious, and calm. A great way to start the day. Hotel Nikko Narita set a high bar. I've stayed at higher rated places that could learn from them.

I've stayed here four different times, and it's my go-to Narita airport hotel. The Nikko bus runs often and reliably. I usually book a twin room, which is spacious enough to sort out my large luggage. The 24-hour Lawson in the lobby is handy when jet lag hits, and the laundry room is clean, though the machines aren't the newest. Rooms in the main building are on the older side, especially the bathrooms, but for the price it's a great bargain.

The shuttle was excellent and ran regularly, with staff loading our luggage for both trips to and from Narita Airport. We also appreciated the free ride to JR Station Narita and AEON Mall. We stayed one night in an annex Superior double room after arriving in the afternoon and before an early flight. It was clean, spacious, and well equipped. The bathroom fittings were a bit dated, but the roominess, plenty of hot water, and good pressure were great. Walking around the upper floors, you can see the runway, and Mt Fuji too if the weather is right. Food choices at the hotel are pretty limited. We skipped the buffet dinner and ate at the Coffee Lounge, where we had the worst meal of our four weeks in Japan. Maybe taking the shuttle to the station or mall would be a better way to find food. Still, this was one of our most comfortable stays in Japan for the money.

The Annex Japanese room was spacious for four, with firm futons and simple decor that covered the essentials. The shuttle to the airport and train station was handy, and the service had all the hallmarks of good Japanese hospitality. I especially liked the simple garden and its beautiful maple trees. A very enjoyable stay, keep up the good work!
