The private hot spring after dinner was a real treat. The open-air bath smelled of wood and felt peaceful, especially under the night sky. Our room was comfortable and clean, and breakfast made with local ingredients was delicious. We came as a family to this pension for its all-you-can-eat steak and private onsen. The staff welcomed us warmly, and we felt comfortable from the start. The steak was tender and juicy, good enough that we went back for seconds. The fresh salads and sides were satisfying too. We liked being able to order as we went, which seems great for families or friends. We’d definitely like to return.

The owner was very attentive, and the service was excellent. I’d gladly stay here again. It’s close to Nasu Highland Park, and there’s an annex, so the place is quite large for a pension. The rooms have an Asian feel and were immaculately clean, but they aren’t very spacious. Sound carries too, so it might bother people who are sensitive to noise. Meals are half-buffet style with all-you-can-drink, including alcohol. There’s an all-you-can-eat steak option, though even without it each guest gets a steak of domestic beef and one of Australian beef. That should be plenty for people with smaller appetites. Breakfast is a buffet as well. There isn’t a huge selection, but everything was tasty, especially the morning beef curry. Several private hot springs are available, so you can try more than one.

We picked this pension for the New Year holiday because of its strong reviews and wanted somewhere relaxing. It’s a big inn with a new annex, and it did feel a bit short-staffed, but it still had the warmth you get at a pension. When it’s full, the evening bath can get crowded and hard to use, lol. I’d suggest staying when it’s less busy.
