It's family-run, and the management doesn't feel very professional. The owner is also the Master Chef. The food and plating look beautiful, but the cuisine isn't especially unique or special. It could use an original signature dish.

It's a small, welcoming inn, and this was my first time staying here. I was very satisfied with how kind and helpful the staff were. Having an open-air bath in the room made it easy to relax fully. Thank you very much.

The room was nice, but for this price and this level of service and quality, I won't return. The building is all on one floor, so it's very easy to get around and seems suitable for people with mobility issues. I also found the chairs by the open-air bath really relaxing, and wished the bath were high enough to use as a footbath. I had to wait a long time to get into the room. During the meal, they kept asking what we wanted to drink, then got the orders wrong. The food arrived at terrible times, and though I expected it to be good, it wasn't tasty, especially the miso soup. My child will eat things when they taste good. The tomato gratin was just so-so compared with the amazing apple gratin at another inn. The free draft beer was awful, and I suspect the server hadn't been cleaned, so I switched to bottled beer with dinner. The hot spring water was average, neither bad nor great, since it wasn't free-flowing. The room's open-air bath smelled of chlorine, and I don't think hot spring enthusiasts would be satisfied. I felt incredibly tired after the stay, and wondered if the chlorine was to blame. Next time, I think I'll go back to my usual choice and stay somewhere with a natural hot spring.

I booked the Tochigi Wagyu Kaiseki plan, and the steak portion was the biggest I've ever had. It was nicely cut into bite-sized pieces. The rice was another highlight: it was cooked in a special pot, which was a first for me after staying at many inns. It took 20 to 30 minutes, and they served freshly cooked rice at breakfast too. I visited in early October after reserving in September. They confirmed my booking several times by email and phone, which impressed me. The inn is small, with one floor and what seemed to be a limited number of rooms, so it was hard to get a reservation. Rooms are near both the front desk and the public bath, which seemed convenient for elderly guests. The small convenience store was a bit disappointing. The biggest downside, though, was how many stink bugs there were. I suppose we picked a bad time during their peak season. It was a shame since our room had an open-air bath, and I was surprised the front desk staff didn't mention the bugs. If you're sensitive to stink bugs or insects, I'd bring your own prevention products.

The meal was why we chose this place, and it lived up to the good reviews. Everything tasted great, the portions were filling, and the colorful plates looked cute and elegant. Dinner was at 6pm in a private room a short walk away, and a staff member came to collect us. We stayed one weekday night in August at this cozy, single-story hotel with just six rooms. After welcome drinks and sweets in a small room by the entrance, a friendly staff member showed us the ropes. Our D-Type Tsutsuji room had tatami mats, a low bed, and a reproduction Eames chair, giving it a modern Japanese feel. The open-air bath was behind a large window at the far end, with a washing area right beside it, which was very handy. It was spacious and had chairs and other amenities. Even in summer there weren't any bugs, so I could relax outside with soda. The rooms sit close to the entrance, where there's also a coffee area with as much as you like and a yukata rental spot. There are two large public baths, one of which guests can reserve on a first-come basis. We checked in after 3pm, and it was booked from 4:10 to 4:50. We had a relaxing, comfortable stay and were very satisfied. Thank you!
