The walk from the train station takes about 20 minutes, but it was so scenic and peaceful that we really enjoyed it. Nikko Park Lodge is surrounded by beautiful nature, with good food and an onsen nearby. We had a great time and liked the lodge as a peaceful base for exploring the area. Our dorm was simple and cozy, and the beds were a bit firm but still comfortable, pretty standard for Japan. We saw a few bugs but no bed bugs. They said heated blankets were available, though we couldn't find them. The shower area is also an onsen, which was fun, but the water went from super hot one day to chilly the next. There was some mold on the walls, understandable with all the onsen steam. Free drinks and coffee were a nice extra, though there weren't any cups when we went to get some. Even with those small snags, the location and atmosphere made for a really good stay. 🌲

Ken San made me feel very welcome during my lovely stay in Nikko. I'd read some reviews mentioning bed bugs, but I didn't find any while I was there. The food was good too. Wishing this beautiful place all the best!

The hosts are easygoing and very helpful, and the old villa has a romantic feel. It's a nice hostel, though a little outside the village, up a hill. Walking takes about 25 minutes, or you can use a narrow trail through the forest as a shortcut. Cleanliness was a bit messy and not at the level I expect in Japan, so it might not suit you if you're picky. I'd give it all five stars if they improved that.

The owners were very sweet and the house has a lovely location with an onsen. But when we were leaving, we were covered in bites and had seen bedbugs in the dorm beds. At least the two beds we slept in had them. Check carefully before you lie down.

A lovely little lodge in the woods, away from the hustle but still close enough. The lounge and dining room felt so homey, with everyone gathered around the fireplace, laughing with the great staff and other lodgers. Highly recommend it for a relaxing break from all the craziness. Thanks again, guys 🙏
